Lumos Charity Screening at Carnegie Hall on November 12, 2016

Eddie Redmayne and fellow cast members attend the Lumos charity screening of
Fantastic Beasts at Carnegie Hall on 12/11/16. (x)

Full video

Excerpt - the most important part at the end

- There are eight million children living in orphanages worldwide,
- That we know of!
- That we know of.
- See, I think what's staggering - what was amazing to me when I first began finding out about these issues
- You think: "How could eight million children be going through this and we not know?" But a very small
amount of thought shows you - they are, as you just said, so voiceless. They are literally hidden from sight.
So in fact eight million may be a conservative estimate - there may be more children who have been taken
from families, that we don't know about.
- And they are in institutions that we are saying are harmful to children.
- We know that children who are raised in institutions suffer developmental delays, they tend to be physically
stunted, they normally have psychological trauma - it is just not what nature intended for children to be herded
together and not given individual love and care.
What's happening across the developed world is, disaster hits and families are immediately pulled apart.
"We'll take those children from you" - now imagine that, in the wake of a disaster, that people come to you
and say "That child will get fed - only if you give me that child."
So since 2010 there has been a 700% increase in children in institutions in Haiti. So we now know that
there are 30,000 children institutionalised. And the same statistic I keep quoting still applies:
the overwhelming majority of those children have at least one parent. And these are families whose livelihoods
have been swept away. These are families who are so desperate that they thought that was the only way
that they were going to keep that child alive.
Obviously this is a massive issue - and as you would imagine, the solution is complex. But - I bring you hope!
This is an entirely solvable issue. This is entirely solvable. Lumos' ambition - and we believe it's achievable
- is that by 2050 we will have ended institutionalisation globally.

What can we do? Tell us what we can -!
- What can you do? So, 50% of what you can do, if you want to foundraise
for us I will be forever in your debt. The other half though as I say is, the
other thing you can do is if everyone who's here tonight walked out of here
and said: "I get the issue, I know that institutionalisation is wrong," and in
future when I donate - or when I hear a friend donating, saying they want to
give some money away at Christmas - do a little bit of research and make
sure that you are supporting families to stay together.
We will spread the word.
- Spread the word!
We will spread the word, that is our job, to spread the word and,
I've got to say, having known so little about it before, it's
an extraordinary thing, and it's a complicated thing.

But as you say, it's solvable, and you must be incredibly proud of the work that Lumos are doing.

I am - I'ts probably the thing of which I am most proud.

'MACUSA' featurette and writing from J.K. Rowling on Pottermore

The Magical Congress of the United States of America examines MACUSA’s place in American history.
"After the Potter books, this was always where I was interested in going.
If I ever did anything, this is what I wanted to do." - J.K. Rowling

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: Music From The Motion Picture [12" Picture Disc]
will be released on 4th November 2016. You can preorder here
J.K. Rowling Tops Hollywood Most Powerful Authors List
Big Number: 4.1 million copies of 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' sold in the first 10 days.
Even without the Harry Potter series and its blockbuster film run, Rowling would make the cut: a TV miniseries based on her first adult book (The Casual Vacancy), an upcoming BBC series based on her Cormoran Strike novels (published under the Robert Galbraith pen name) and a hit West End play (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), the script of which became the best-selling book of the year so far. The Nov. 18 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in the Potter-verse but without Harry, brings the biggest test yet for Rowling, 51, who penned the screenplay (her first) for Warner Bros.

The list also includes 'The Last Days of Night' author Graham Moore on the 21st place
...After winning the 2015 Oscar for best adapted screenplay for The Imitation Game, Moore set his sights back on the book he'd set aside: The Last Days of Night, a story about the rivalry between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse during the invention of electricity. "The glitz and the glamour of Hollywood was amazing and fantastic, but I wanted to spend a little time quietly in a dark room finishing this novel," says Moore, 34. The Chicago native now is adapting Night, which has been on The New York Times best-seller list since its August release, with Game director Morten Tyldum attached and Eddie Redmayne set to star..

Anglophenia:
Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch Star in Battling Thomas Edison Films

...Looks like two films about an historic battle are about to go into battle themselves. According to Deadline, The Current War is aiming to go quickly into production this December, while cameras on The Last Days of Night are due to start rolling in January. - Read more

Lumos foundraiser event, Fantastic Beasts news

Yesterday J.K. Rowling participated in a live chat broadcast on Facebook to launch the latest initiative of her charity, Lumos, called We Are Lumos Worldwide!
As described on Lumos’s official website,
We Are Lumos Worldwide is
"[…] an exciting series of global events to help
some of the world’s most vulnerable children leave orphanages and regain their right to a family life."
At the official Lumos event, Rowling spoke with host Lauren Laverne about why the work that Lumos does to end the institutionalization of children worldwide is so important.

I think Eddie wore the same double-breasted jacket in October and November 2014

and I think he wore this at Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show too.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Eddie will be introducing a “sneak peek” at the two-day pop culture
festival being held Oct. 29-30 in California.
EW PopFest just got even more fantastic. In addition to special screenings, signings and previews at the
two-day event, Eddie Redmayne will take the stage to reveal an exclusive sneak peek of the Harry Potter
prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Potterheads can look forward to a Q&A with the film’s
star ahead of the preview that will be screened for attendees on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The dates coincide with the BAFTA Britannia Awards in Los Angeles, so here’s hoping he can pay
tribute to Felicity Jones, who is being honored as British Star of the Year! (via)
The annual gala celebration will take place on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

When asked by the BBC’s Lizo Mzimba whether Harry Potter’s story will continue in other media,
Rowling said: "Well it is, because of course I'm doing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Pressed on whether the film trilogy will be set in Harry’s world rather than on Harry, she said, with
a smile: "It's more preview-y I think than people realise.” (Independent)
