...While Einar’s bare landscapes were a hit in Copenhagen, Denmark, Gerda’s feminine portraits were never quite accepted by the Danish art community. After Einar started transitioning into Lili, she became Gerda’s muse. Her Art Nouveau portraits of Lili became her breakthrough and earned her fame and recognition as an artist in Paris. “It was alluring to people to see someone as spectacularly beautiful as Lili and as different,” Stewart explained of the paintings’ success. Stewart teamed up with British artist Susannah Brough and they eventually settled on roughly 70 artworks to re-create for the film. “We laid them all out and went through the script with Tom and writer Lucinda [Coxon] and plotted which ones would hit each scene,” she said. “We only had two months to re-create all of them. By the end we were all in that painting room! The film’s paintings weren’t exact replicas of Gerda’s work, however. “We had to adapt them slightly because they didn’t look like Eddie,” Stewart said. The original portrait of ballerina Ulla Poulsen, the one that changed Lili’s life forever, was also altered to resemble actress Amber Heard’s face. In addition to the release of The Danish Girl, this month, Denmark’s Arken Museum of Modern Art will be displaying the largest exhibition of Gerda’s work so far, a development that delighted Stewart. “I think she would have been so thrilled that finally she was taken seriously by the Danish.”...

"I want to be a woman, not a painter,” says Einar Wegener to his artist wife, Gerda, who wryly reminds him
that some have succeeded at being both....
“What you draw, I become,” Lili says to Gerda. “You made me beautiful, and now you make me stronger.”
The film has sparked renewed interest in not only Lili, but also Gerda Wegerner’s art and life. She was similarly
self-styled, independent and determined, and her work was often unapologetically erotic. Her paintings, which combined the influence of Cubism and other avant-garde styles with traditionally “feminine” subjects such as
women in gardens or at their toilettes, are the subject of a major exhibition at the Arken Museum in Copenhagen,
on view through 16 May 2016. (x)

My artworks (sort of) based on pictures from The Danish Girl

There was a new still (x) in my previous post, that I like very much and I made a few edits from it. Unfortunately I don't have photoshop, I used Microsoft Photo Editor and Paint for the images. I hope you like the result.

Playing with colors - I tried several colors, finally chose these pics to the composition.

Portrait in the making - artwork by Amy Clemens

The wonderful finished pencil portrait by an Australian graphic designer Amy Clemens (x)
Amy congratulated to Eddie on his Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking.

She documented the making of the portrait on Instagram and tumblr.

amyclemens12: Guess who? Hint: he's been in a movie released recently. And he is British.(x)
We are only at the beginning of the process, but Eddie is already recognizable.

Work in progress, Eddie Redmayne. (x)
I like this phase the best. The beautiful face is already done and
the other parts of the drawing not distract you in admiring it.

Work in process (x)

 amyclemens12 (x): I've been a fan of Eddie Redmayne's for a while and when I saw
The Theory of Everything a few weeks ago, I knew I had to draw him. His performance
as Stephen Hawking was incredibly moving and inspiring. What a talent.

quartzion-thecrystal-queen asked: Do you use photographs from online for reference?
Answer: Yes, most of the time I use one reference image or a range of images. If I am creating something original
I often use parts of many images to create something new.

P.S.: This is not new, but I like it so much, I thought it worth posting. I think the only reason that I didn't posted when she made the pic, that it was in the middle of the awards season and so many things happenned that time. Her work based on a photo from the sesion by Rainer Hosch for Venice Magazine (2010)

Artwork by Kate Waddington - making of a portrait

Beautiful portrait of Eddie Redmayne based on a photo from GQ Australia 2015 February issue (x)
Kate is a young artist from Sydney. She documented on her Instagram how she made this portrait.
I miss the freckles, but I understand that paint them with this technique is risky, easy to ruin the pic.

Hello Eddie! This face is slightly on an angle (very slightly). As you
can see, the right side of the face is a little wider than the left.(x)

Lip marking after finding the width of the face (measured at the base of the eyes). (x)

Kate: Loved working with this soft pastel colour palette!

These are absolutely stunning - fantastic work!

Eddie Redmayne explaining the confusing thought processes you have to go through

Update May 25, 2015:
I totally agree with this post about Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of Balem:
fuckyeahjupiterascending: Evil Overlord Acting
...I think people find it ridiculous/laughable because they make absolutely no attempt to understand it. Critics have literally been incapable of seeing past the histrionics and the extreme voice modulations, and consequently find the performance itself incredibly arbitrary and bizarre. Now, it is a gloriously unhinged performance, yes, but that’s the whole point of it - Redmayne is playing an insane, 50,000-year-old man who has remained functional purely on account of the magic of space capitalism. Naturally, he gives a bold performance - the role demanded it and the Wachowskis wanted it, so Redmayne gave in to the madness and went with it....
...“He played the role perfectly. And I mean perfectly. He was disgusting and despicable. His character had serious mommy issues and it showed not only in his interaction with Mila but in his character’s general character. He was a spoiled brat who murdered his own mother and was forced to look those feelings of guilt, sacrifice, loathing, familial love, desperation and self hate in the face and do it all over again. It was fucking magnificent.”(x)
...there’s a genuinely impressive and fascinating performance there if you can look beyond the volume of Redmayne’s voice. Anyone who suggests that Redmayne gave a ‘bad’ performance in Jupiter Ascending can go to hell - it’s a mad performance, but it goes to the bone and is ludicrously entertaining...
