Eddie in Les Miserables - stills, gifs, quotes, videos

This post is third in a row about Les Mis, the film version of the succesfull musical based on Victor Hugo's novel.
With this little filmography I finish this topic for now.
In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole, agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's daughter, Cosette. The fateful decision changes their lives forever. - IMDB page of the film

Eddie Redmayne plays Marius Pontmercy, a student revolutionary who is friends with the Thenardiers' daughter, Éponine, but falls in love with Cosette. He found director Hooper's vision "incredibly helpful".
On collaborating with Hooper, Redmayne said, "He was incredibly collaborative. Certainly during the rehearsal process, we sat with Tom and the Victor Hugo book adding things." It was Redmayne who suggested to Hooper that his character's song, "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables", should begin a cappella (without musical accompaniment) in order to better express Marius' loneliness and longing. (Wikipedia)
Eddie about singing:
“Hmm. Well. I sang when I was a kid. And I really enjoy it. And I had, like, a choral scholarship at Cambridge….But I haven’t sung for, like, 12 years. And I sort of lived a minor life of decadence for a few years, as in I hadn’t particularly given a s*** about the state of my vocal cords. On set I sang with the [chorus of] students. I only realised on day seven that virtually all of them had played Marius too. I thought, ‘Screw it.’ Went and asked them how they’d done it. Tried to steal the best parts.”
The early days of shooting could have been intimidating, he says, had it not been for the vocal warm-ups. “You’ve got the bizarre thing of being on that set, watching all these extraordinary actors, who you’ve seen in endless films, debased to holding their tongues and going: ‘Eeyaw, eeyaw, eeyaw.’ And there’s Hugh, who is so big and strong and wolverine, doing: ‘Zeezaazeezaazeezaa.’ There was generally a lot of humiliation involved.”

Leap of Faith: Anne Hathaway

This is an Anne Hataway interview about Les Miserables, supplemented by short interviews with other cast members.
Excerpt from the article:
“As soon as the film was announced, everyone in Hollywood started saying, ‘Oh, I love Les Mis,’ ” Redmayne says. “But I swear, I really have loved it since my parents took me to see it when I was seven. I remember being so jealous of the boy playing Gavroche—I wanted to be him so badly, and I think that was the moment I caught the acting bug.”

Being slapped on screen

It's incredibly difficult being slapped on screen. It's really difficult, because when the first time it happens it's a
complete shock you get. You try not to anticipate it, but in lots of takes you see me doing this (bottom left) just
before it's comming... /Eddie Redmayne/

Gunman Eddie - photos and gifs from Eddie's films

Eddie Redmayne as Thomas Babbington, holds a gun to Queen Elizabeth I. (Cate Blanchette)
in the film "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" .

The use of guns leads to tragic murders and accidents in the movies "Like Minds" and "Hick".

In "Powder Blue" Charlie (Forest Whitacker) offers money and hold out his gun,
because he wants Qwerty to shoot him.

In "Birdsong" Eddie as Stephen Wraysford - an English soldier - fights
in the horrific trenches of northern France in the First World War.

And of course, in "Les Miserables" the revolutionaries are fighting for their rights with weapons.
