Explosive Chemistry - new ToE related articles and a posts

Daily Mail: Steven Hawking's love affair is timeless: Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones have explosive chemistry in new biopic By BAZ BAMIGBOYE
- Science of love: Eddie Redmayne sizzles on screen with Felicity Jones in a Steven Hawkings biopic

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones have chemistry with a capital ‘C’ when they appear on screen together in a film about Stephen Hawking and his relationship with his first wife.
Scientists have explored time and space for evidence of black holes.Film studios have spent billions searching for the right combinations of actors for the big screen.Such experiments are rarely successful. But there’s a powerful reaction when they do work. The coupling of Redmayne and Jones is such an example. You believe from the minute they dance together — to Martha Reeves And The Vandellas singing Heatwave — that this couple are really in love.
And even when the relationship goes wrong, there’s still a truth in the eyes of both actors.
The film, directed by James Marsh, explores Hawking’s genius, but the heart of the movie is the physics of love, and the mathematical probabilities of happiness. The Theory Of Everything has its world premiere this weekend at the Toronto International Film festival, and opens in the UK early in the New Year.
I watched Redmayne and Jones on set last year, when they were shooting a scene in which Hawking tries to explain his own theory of evolution using vegetables on a dinner plate. Even then, I could sense there was real movie magic going on. It wasn’t even the acting. It was about connecting, and ensuring that connection comes across on screen.
I wasn’t all that good at science at school but I do believe in the theory of love. Especially at the movies.

The Wall Street Journal: Heartthrobs Cumberbatch and Redmayne Play Geniuses
"I had done months of work and research, meeting motor-neuron disease doctors and patients and some of Stephen's old students," Mr. Redmayne said. "Then just a week before filming I actually got to meet Stephen. He is now able to move very few muscles, and yet at the same time there is such vibrancy and wit and humor in his character. The biggest challenge was [portraying] this extraordinary charisma despite such limited means of expressing it."
It also helps that geniuses don't always look or sound the part. While he was a student at Cambridge University, Mr. Redmayne said, "I did get to witness many extraordinarily bright people. While probably none of them were in Stephen's league, I had gleaned over the years that they are astounding talents," which "you wouldn't necessarily guess from spending time with them."
Despite all their reading and research, for both stars it all comes down to acting. "I can't say for a second that I understand a single page of his work," Mr. Cumberbatch said of Turing. "I read and watched everything," Mr. Redmayne said of Mr. Hawking's work. "What I understood is another question."...

The long article tells the real story of the Hawkings.

Redmayne shoots to the top of the lead actor field with costar Jones finally earning mainstream acclaim.

Inside Movies: Toronto 2014 preview: 17 must-see films
... it was Redmayne’s tortured physical transformation in the first trailer that had some viewers thinking:
My Left Foot + A Beautiful Mind = Oscar gold.

...Redmayne's performance could also see him highly recognised when the major award nominations are announced next year.

...Eddie Redmayne, who stole the show in "Les Miserables," plays the brilliant physicist and Felicity Jones ("Like, Crazy") co-stars as Mrs. Hawking. The fine young actors have a chance to establish themselves even further here, with oddsmakers giving an edge to Redmayne considering the challenges involved with portraying a highly-intelligent man who's also crazy in love.

Indiewire: The Playlist's 15 Most Anticipated Films Of The 2014 Toronto International Film Festival
...Fast-rising stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are already touted for awards as Hawking and Jane, while the top-notch supporting cast also includes Charlie Cox, Emily Watson, Simon McBurney, David Thewlis and Harry Lloyd. We'll be honest: the trailers for this one so far have made it appear a bit traditional and sentimental as far as biopics go, but Marsh is an interesting and unconventional choice for the project, and it's his involvement that gives us faith that we're in for something more interesting than what we're being sold...
By the looks of the trailer, we’re sure this film is going to be one heck of a tearjerker! Do I smell some awards potential here for Mr. Redmayne?

Eddie Redmayne, who sang his heart out in Les Misérables, plays a young Dr. Stephen Hawking, fighting his devastating diagnosis of a paralyzing motor disease alongside loyal love Jane (Felicity Jones), while also finding time
to figure out the secrets of the universe. A Beautiful Mind meets My Left Foot, anyone?
Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of Hawking is already sparking talk of awards.
"He starts off being able-bodied and then he has to use a stick and then two sticks and he ends up in a wheelchair," said Marsh. "He has to get across a range of disabilities and that is extraordinarily difficult."

Scott Feinberg: TIFF 2014: My Top Ten List
I’m a sucker for a good love story, but what is remarkable about The Theory of Everything, is that it is based on the true, heart-wrenching love story of Stephen Hawking (Redmayne) and Jane Wilde (Jones). From the brief glimpses I caught in the trailer, I was also amazed at Redmayne’s ability to portray Hawking throughout his diagnosis.

Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne are teetering on the crusp of big-time stardom and critical bankability.

Jamie Dornan is the winner of GQ's Breakthrough Award in 2014

Jamie Dornan attended the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House on Sept. 2 in London.
At the ceremony, Fifty Shades of Grey writer E.L. James presented Jamie with the Vertu Breakthrough Award.

Jamie Dornan said: "Eddie Redmayne won this award last year - six years ago we were whoring our way around
LA together. We had no scripts, no women in our lives and very little dignity, but we must have done something right.
At least in the eyes of GQ."
