Happy 34th Birthday Eddie Redmayne! Keep doing what you do and being who you are!

Have a very Happy Birthday Eddie Redmayne! I hope this year will be at least as good as the
last or better. Keep on doing the extraordinary work and being the nicest guy on Earth!

Meeting you in Venice was the highlight of 2015 for me.

Before he was an Oscar winner, Eddie Redmayne was just a nine-year-old kid who was obsessed
with magic. “The Danish Girl” star reflects back on his favorite magic-themed birthday. (x)
Watch this on The Scene.

In an old interview - I think it was in December 2014, but cannot remember exactly - Eddie mentioned that one of his favorite Christmas presents was a magic box he got from his parents, when he was about eight years old.

Mirror: Eddie Redmayne is named the world's best dressed man beating Nick Grimshaw and David Beckham
The Oscar-winning actor, who is soon to become a dad, can teach his children a thing or two about dressing
Eddie Redmayne has had a brilliant few years and now he can add the title of World's Best Dressed Man to his list of achievements.
The 33-year-old actor, who plays transgender artist Lili Elbe in his new film The Danish Girl, might have been wearing skirts, tights and classy dresses while filming but out of work he’s been leading the fashion pack for the guys.
Oscar-winning Eddie has been given the title by GQ magazine and had some seriously tough competition...

GQ: 50 Best Dressed Men in Britain
1. Eddie Redmayne (Last year no1)
"The stylish intersection where Cary Grant's style meets Fred Astaire's lithe elegance." Sir Elton John and David Furnish.
GQ says: The actor's fashion potential was spotted early on when he starred in Burberry campaigns and today the Oscar-winner earns plaudits for his impeccable taste.

The nicest man in British cinema may also be its most terrified. Having graduated from Eton wannabe to Oscar winner, he's back with another groundbreaking performance as a transgender woman in The Danish Girl. GQ talks privilege, Harry Potter and LA parties with an actor who has turned his almost crippling intensity into a Hollywood calling card. Here's a preview from the full interview available Thursday 7 January...
Eddie Redmayne on occasionally paying young actors' rent
"The greatest privilege that I had was that my parents lived in London. So when I was out of university and out of work for a year, working in a pub, I didn't pay rent. And I get letters from people trying to go to drama school and needing to pay their rent. And so that's something I occasionally do. It's impossibly expensive to live in London."
Eddie Redmayne on the challenging acting roles he chooses
"I think people look at it and go, urgh, you want to try and do something transformational. And it's not true - just, if you're lucky enough in your lifetime to get two parts that are interesting and challenging to play, then it's a privilege really."
More in the February issue of British GQ is available 7 January on newsstands and as a digital edition.

“One of my first films was Savage Grace. Julianne Moore played my mother, with whom my character was having an incestuous relationship. Last year, there was an amazing moment at the Academy Awards when Julianne and
I both won. We were euphoric, and she turned to me and said, ‘Now maybe people will go
and see Savage Grace!’ ” (2) (HiRes photo2)

Our Best Actor Oscar predictions are overwhelming: Leonardo DiCaprio ("The Revenant") will finally win Best Actor after five previous Oscar losses. But while his campaign for an overdue victory has received most of the attention, Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl") has matched him every step of the way on the awards circuit. What's more, Redmayne is the defending champ, having prevailed last year for "The Theory of Everything" over one-time frontrunner Michael Keaton ("Birdman"). Are we underestimating him again this year?
Redmayne has earned nominations from all the key Oscar precursors: the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Critics' Choice Awards. He's also been recognized with nominations from various critics' groups, including journalists from Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Vancouver and Washington DC, to name a few. And all but two of our 24 expert Oscar pundits say he'll be nominated at the Oscars, placing him safely in third with 13/2 odds. So it may be premature to count Redmayne out for the win....Read more

Independent:
Tom Hooper's The Danish Girl is a subtle and extraordinarily well-crafted film but one that pulls continually in different directions. Hooper is telling a radical story in a strait-laced fashion. This is an upscale period drama in which loving attention has been paid to costume and production design. Its subject matter, though, is raw and unsettling. The main character is Lili Elbe, the artist "whose brave and pioneering spirit remain an inspiration for today's transgender movement", but who, in the course of the movie, endures extreme trauma...
What makes Redmayne’s performance so exceptional is the way he captures both Lili’s terror and her stubborn bravery. Some of the actor’s gestures seem very mannered but we are always aware of the intelligence and feelings that are driving Lili. In being so honest to her own nature, she is destroying the comfortable life that Einar and Gerda enjoyed as a married couple... full review here (via)

The Danish Girl is an amazing movie that succeeds in spite of itself. In this day and age, the story of a woman trapped inside a man’s body would not appear to be the sort of film to appeal to audiences across the board. However in the hands of a talented director such as Tom Hooper, and with a screenplay by Lucinda Coxon, it becomes a totally relatable story about love and all its many aspects...
Redmayne is completely absorbed by the role and uses his talent to show all of the facets of Einar and the emerging Lili. Somehow he manages to show both Einar’s confliction and Lili’s vulnerability. Vikander’s role as Gerda is equally complex. This is a woman who loves her husband totally, but also understands his need to be accepted as a woman. These are two of the best performances you will see this year, and they complement each other beautifully...full review here (via)
