Met Gala 2024

Eddie and his wife Hannah attended the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala
Exhibition of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” in New York on May 6, 2024.
Eddie wore a black wool coat with appliqués, mounted on sheer organza, with a soft
tulle skirt and black wool trousers, Hannah was in a matching sheer organza dress,
built over a tulle corset and a full underskirt, decorated with black silk crepe appliqués
tailored by British menswear designer Steve O Smith.

The 2024 Met Gala celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties:
Reawakening Fashion.”The official dress code is “The Garden of Time.” The exhibit features
approximately 250 rare items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection.
Spanning over 400 years of fashion history, including designs by Schiaparelli, Dior,
Givenchy, and more. Some garments that are too fragile to ever be worn again (such as
a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown from 1877) are also displayed via video animation,
light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation.

Eddie said: “We’re wearing matching outfits!”
“This is by a gentleman called Steve O. Smith, a young designer. He’s had two collections.
He’s an extraordinary man and an extraordinary designer.”

“I just saw you live,” Ashley Graham told him. “I was in the front row, and
I have to say your character, you embody that character!”
“I hope I wasn’t too lascivious,” Eddie joked. Of the show, he said, “We’re having
the most amazing time. The show is in the round. When you come from 52nd Street,
you step into this whole world of the Weimar Republic. The audience is so electric.”

He praised his costar, Gayle Rankin, who also attended the event.

When he was asked about his upcoming project, Eddie mentioned
The Day of the Jackal TV series, adding that he’s “playing an assassin
who wears quote debonaire suits — probably not tulle skirts!”

“I love line drawings and particularly charcoal… those great artists who could create
something extraordinary with so little – Matisse, Cy Twombly, or the romance of Seurat
charcoal drawings. Steve’s clothes merge fashion and art so uniquely and I adore that,”

“The mixture of classicism and whimsy is what Steve has created,
and the clothes are beautiful, playful, and easy to wear,”
