He said: “I’m hugely excited, JK Rowling’s a genius, I am so thrilled to be a part of it but I can’t say
a single word beyond that...I’ve always loved that world and I feel thrilled to be invited into it.”
Speaking at a dinner in his honour at Quaglino’s in Mayfair in his capacity as international ambassador for Omega,
he said he has been enjoying some “gentle downtime” with wife Hannah Bagshawe.
Since they got married in December, Redmayne has been busy filming and named best actor at the Oscars for his portrayal of Professor Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.
He said: “I have been in New York for a few days, I’ve just finished a film about three weeks ago and it’s the first time
in a long while that Hannah and I have had a moment of freedom, so we’ve been on holiday recently...
I’m sort of gently starting work on this new film. So getting stuck in, but also it’s slightly more gentle after the, a bit of sort of gentle downtime.”...
He declined to comment on how Bagshawe, who had her arm in a plaster cast,
injured herself, but she is understood to have damaged it falling off a horse.

Redmayne spent much of the dinner engrossed in conversation with fellow British star Chiwetel Ejiofor, who earned
an Oscar nomination for his performance in 12 Years A Slave.
But when asked whether British actors are taking over Hollywood, he said: “I don’t know about that. I think we always feel lucky to be asked frankly, it’s a thrill for us to get invited over there, it’s a wonderful and extraordinary place Los Angeles, we always have a great time when we’re there.”

In a speech at the dinner, which was also attended by former Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens and compered by Clemency Burton-Hill, a friend of the couple, Redmayne said he is “rancidly embarrassingly on time, if not early”.
He said timekeeping, however, was not one of Bagshawe’s strengths, as he recounted how she was 45 minutes
late for their wedding which left everyone but him “panicking”....

Redmayne revealed that his relationship with Omega had actually been started by his father when the actor was still in his teens. He was also presented with a new
Omega Globemaster by Mr Urquhart - a model that is yet to be released.
"My first watch was a Flik Flak, and then later I owned a Swatch," he explains. "My father had a very beautiful Omega watch, a very simple gold case with a black leather strap. He works in the City and has always been incredibly stylish - he was always a bit of a style icon for me. When I graduated towards 'serious' watches, I guess Omega was always an obvious choice." (
