the impact it has had on the industry and emerging generations of artists.

“I’d always been obsessed with the Donmar Warehouse...The place that he had 

made it, is so filled with - it was a jewel - magic and excitement. You could brush 

shoulders with actors you admired, and you felt an intimacy and a closeness, but 

at the same point the theater seemed to punch so above its weight. He thinks 

about an evening and an event, and what someone, who is paying for the babysitter 

and playing - you know - to come out to the theater and go over dinner, and what 

that whole evening means, and he gives it a sense of - there’s always a touch and

"In Search of Shakespeare" Ep.3.). Eddie Redmayne made his professional stage debut as Viola in the 400th anniversary Globe Theatre production of Twelfth Night in 2002.

„The school (Eton) puts on 20-25 shows a year in three spaces – the impressive 400-seat Farrer Theatre 

(complete with revolving stage and orchestra pit) and two smaller studios.
Lining the corridor that leads down to the dressing room are photographs of past productions, some of which feature some famous faces: the young Dominic West playing Hamlet, a youthful-looking Damian Lewis as Wackford Squeers in Nicholas Nickleby, Tom Hiddleston as Bernard Nightingale in Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, Harry Lloyd in Three Sisters and Waiting For Godot, and Eddie Redmayne as Henry VI and as Adela Quested in A Passage To India.”

William Shakespeare widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He was born and brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon. He was baptised there on 26 April 1564. His actual date of birth remains unknown, but is traditionally observed on 23 April, Saint George's Day. This date, which can be traced back to an 18th-century scholar's mistake, has proved appealing to biographers, since Shakespeare died 23 April 1616. (Wikipedia) So today is the 450th anniversary of his birth and the 398th of his death.

Simon Dormandy, a former actor, the head of drama at Eton instilled a professional discipline in matters such as verse-speaking in his theatrically inclined charges. Among other roles, Redmayne played Shakespeare's Henry VI and his first drag turn as Adela Quested in a stage version of A Passage to India. Siobhan Bracke, the casting director, knew Dormandy from RSC days, and approached him when the decision was made to field a very young man as Viola in Twelfth Night. By this stage at Cambridge, Redmayne got his second call from Rylance and director Tim Carroll, "when I was well into a bottle of wine with a friend in Notting Hill. I had to go straight to the Globe and do a scene with Mark who I think was in a rehearsal dress and the wine..." (x) via (x)

Dressed in the style of 60's - 2012 Simply Shakespeare - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Besides his charity work supporting healthcare organizations we heard a lot about, Eddie Redmayne supports cultural foundations too. In February he attended a cultural charity event, the Into Film Launch, and in 2012 he participated the Simply Shakespeare Celebrity Reading held annually in Los Angeles, organized by Rita Wilson.

In support of The Shakespeare Center’s programs.

TOM HANKS and his actress wife RITA WILSON teamed up with MARTIN SHORT to form an all-star cast in Shakespearean classic A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM for a charity performance on Thursday (27Sep12).
Billy Crystal, Eddie Redmayne, William Shatner and Topher Grace also stepped onstage to act out The Bard's play at the Freud Playhouse at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The stars put a 1960s twist on the event, which was billed as "an evening filled with peace, love and psychedelic Shakespeare" starring "groovy love children Rita 'Daisy' Wilson and Tom 'Far Out' Hanks and a tie-dyed cast of hilarious hippies".
The 22nd Annual Simply Shakespeare Celebrity Reading raised money for the Shakespeare Centre Los Angeles, an organisation which creates literary programs to help impoverished students.

....The "Simply Shakespeare" press releaseleaves no sixties cliche unreferenced in its rundown of "a tie-dyed cast of hilarious hippies," "peace," "love," and the intriguingly vague promise of "iconic music of the era." ("Forrest Gump" soundtrack? Is that you we're sensing?)
