Eddie's Essentials for GQ Germany

There are a few things GQ Man of the Year and The Good Nurse star Eddie Redmayne
can't live without: from a Prada cardigan he stole from a photo shoot to a tennis racquet
he's owned from the age of 14 and which he still enjoys playing with, to the paint box
and brushes he uses to pass the time on the film set – here are the Academy Award
winner’s 10 essentials for GQ Germany.

A new favorite outtake from the 2018 GQ Germany photoshoot by Giampaolo Sgura

Outtake from the cover shoot via __eddie8oct2018 on IG

I haven't seen this photo before. When I saw it first I immediately thought of
the 2018 GQ photoshoot for the January 2019 issue of GQ Germany, because
his clothes style is similar. It turned out that my guess was right.

BTS of the photoshoot by Giampaolo Sgura for GQ Germany

Behind the scenes video released by GQ Germany. Eddie Redmayne photographed
by Giampaolo Sgura for the new issue, that will be on stands tomorrow.
Styling Tobias Frericks.

What a real man is, it's on a much larger spectrum today.
Currently, Eddie Redmayne can be seen as a wizard Newt Scamander in the movie
based on the script of J.K. Rowling, "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald".
At least since his main role of the transgender woman Lili Elbe in "The Danish Girl",
the Brit has established himself as a solid acting-size. With GQ, he looks back on this
controversial role and talks about gender roles and authenticity - the full interview
can be found in the current issue, which is on sale from 6 December.
Eddie Redmayne's portrayal in "The Danish Girl" was controversial because the
role was not filled with a transgender woman. Today, he believes, that would be
different: "The film was released in cinemas in 2015. Since then, the gender debate
has received so much attention that today, you would probably really plan the
movie to cast the role of Lili Elbe with a trans actress. " Redmayne has learned,
as he affirms in the big GQ interview: "I hope films will be debating. (...)
I talked to many filmmaking Trans women and men and learned a lot about
how hard they are finding work in front of or behind the camera. "

Especially in a time of rapid change, it is important for the husband and father of
two children to participate in the social dialogue: "I am convinced that you can
always achieve more together than by partitioning one another. It's about conversation
and understanding for each other. By understanding I do not mean that we understand
headlines. We have to understand the whole story. "Nevertheless, it is not a matter
of course for him to be taken into political duty as an actor:" It is forgotten (...)
how many people do not care at all, what a particular actor says, and that This
actor has few opportunities to retune one of these people. And, let's face it, I can
participate in public discussions. But I do not want it automatically. " (preview GQ)
