Global Press Conference for Fantastic Beasts 3

The Global press conference was held on March 28th, 2022.   

Participants: Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Dan Fogler, Jessica Williams,

Mads Mikkelsen, Alison Sudol, William Nadlyam, Victoria Yeates,

director David Yates, and producers David Heyman and Tim Lewis

Eddie Redmayne: "I love the Newt & Dumbledore relationship. For me, what I love is that

it's got that complexity of sort of master and apprentice, but it's evolved throughout the

movies, to being something almost fraternal I would say in this one. There's older brother

and younger brother, and there's a moment in this film when Newt even takes it upon

himself, sees the vulnerability in Dumbledore, and tries to pass on a moment of wisdom

to him, so that progression. But what I love about Newt is, fundamentally he's an introverted

guy and is at most comfortable with his creatures and in his own world, but Dumbledore

has seen a quality in him that has the potential for leadership or being in an unconventional

way. What I love about this movie is it's like a wizarding heist movie in which this group of

outsiders all band together, all of us unconventional, and the leader is unconventional, and

there's a kind of wonder in that. As far as where Jude's concerned, I adore this man. He was

a friend before we started working together, and one of the real joys about working on

a series of films, is you get to push things, you get to feel so comfortable working with

each other that you can kind of push boundaries, I suppose, and also there's a kind of

shorthand, so that's kind of joyful in this part." (via)

Eddie Redmayne on what he learned from Newt: "That's a lovely question actually. I adore Newt,

and there are many things I love about him, that he's an incredibly empathetic person. He looks

for the good in people. He's also very happy in his own company and in the company of creatures.

He's someone that enjoys silence. I'm someone that in my anxiety, I tend to feel, as I'm doing now,

too many words. But along with that, there are various sort of epithets or things that he said, which

I now try and to live by. One is that worrying means you suffer twice, which was in the first movie.

I'm a great worrier. I always tell myself, "If the horrendous things are gonna happen, there's no

point worrying about it. It's gonna happen anyway." Then it's just gonna double your pain, and

there's something he says to Dumbledore in this piece, which I adore, which is that I'm butchering

it here, but, "We all make mistakes in life, but you can try and make things better, and it's the

trying that counts. It's the aspiring to make things better." Sometimes, you go, "Oh, I really

screwed up that. Oh, I'm just gonna hide away in my hovel and put up the sort of exoskeleton."

I love that actually the way he thinks is all about trying to make things better." (via)

Talk about the camaraderie of Pickett the bowtruckle and Teddy the Niffler, who

end up having a sibling-like bond. The cast also agreed they love the Qilin.

Eddie talked at length about the new dancing he had to do for the Manticores

in Secrets of Dumbledore, even to the point that the notes saying him

to make a fool of himself. He sent a bunch of dance test video outtakes

to Yates, but eventually chose the hand flop and wiggle. 

Talks about a scene in the Hog's Head drinking Butterbeer with his colleagues

on scene - Eddie had to pinch himself, it was amazing. Same with Hogwarts.
